Cristina Finta - Sensei Enoeda Outstanding Competitor Trophy winner

Friday 02 May 2014

At the 48th KUGB National Championships on 3rd May 2014, Cristina Finta 3rd Dan, Club Captain of Manchester University SKC and Senior England squad member, was awarded the Sensei Enoeda Trophy for Outstanding Competitor of the Day by KUGB Chief Instructor Sensei Andy Sherry 9th Dan.

This is a huge honour and is in recognition of Cristina's brilliant performance at the Nationals, winning the Senior Ladies Individual Kumite, second in the Senior Ladies Individual Kata and second in the Womens Team Kumite with her Manchester University team-mates.  Despite her diminutive size, Cristina fights like a lion taking on opponents almost twice her size with such great confidence, spirit and determination.  Not only is she a talented fighter, her technical skills are clearly demonstrated by her fantastic performances in kata, her favourite competition kata being Goju Shiho Sho.

Cristina's talents were clearly evident when she joined the university club and the Academy a few short years back and under Sensei Garry Harford's expert instruction she is going from strength to strength.  She was selected to the England senior squad last year and was immediately thrust onto the world stage at the WSKA World Championships in 2013.  Her first international competition - and she won a silver medal in the women's team kumite!

All this and she is only 23 years of age!

Sensei and the club are very proud of you and we all wish you many more years of success!
