Shotokan Karate Academy

Manchester hosts KUGB Black and Brown Belt Course & Grading

Saturday 27 May 2017

Sunday 28th May 2017 saw hundreds of karate-ka from the Karate Union of Great Britain travel to Manchester from across the country for the chance to train and grade with one of the country's top Shotoakn Karate instructors.  Sensei Frank Brennan 8th Dan taught black and brown belts in 2 separate classes at the home of the Shotokan Karate Academy, both of which were very well attended despite the recent events in Manchester city centre.

Following a short break, KUGB Chief Instructor Sensei Andy Sherry 9th Dan held a grading for those students taking Shodan and Nidan grades.  This included several of the Academy's own karate-ka.

The successful students from the Academy were:
  • SHODAN - Rachel Anthony, Jonty Crosby, Blagovest Milev and Dominic Mehandjiev
  • NIDAN - Vanessa Macintyre

Congratulations to you and to alll the other successful students from other clubs, including Alex Cockx from Hale, a regular at the Academy, who passed NIDAN.
